I am not sure if this has been shot down or not yet but I would 100% hate to see this coming in. Yeah there has to be general realism in the sim which there is but things like weather coming in would just spoil it. People will not be happy to have their game called off and it will only result negatively. Also the points structure would have to be changed with points coming in for batting and bowling and possibly even percentages brought in too. I would rather just view it that CricSim just has a constant warm climate during the season.
You guys are really exaggerating the effect the weather has. Not every game is going to have two whole days rained out. It probably won't come in, but I'm still all for it. I think it can only serve to make live BS games more enjoyable. Of course, everyone is going to have different opinions on the matter.
It depends on the set climate though tbh. Scotland and the UK generally is massively effected by weather whereas Oz is not likely to be anywhere near as effected. Whatever the case if rain is brought in it will result in more draws and that then does bring in a level of unfairness with the current league set up.
Nothing wrong with draws, IMO. Creates some excitment for the live broadcast. Can the make the runs in time? etc. But yeah, I'd say most teams would set there weather rating so some place around Australia. A club with 4 good genuine quicks could pick Brsibane - a paceman's paradise. It'd be up to clubs. Clubs could choose England if they felt the need, and then it'd be them to blame instead of the sim. I still like Marcuss' suggestion of throwing it into the line-up for the CoS. "Declare when the run rate >4.6 and the lead is more than 200" or something. It's not looking likely but I really think this could be awesome for CricSim.
I think you can problem begin to complicate things when it really isnt needed and I feel that this is one of these cases. Also IIRC we aren't able to know how many overs are left in a day or anything like that so the point about live boardcasts probably wouldn't happen.
It's fairly simple - the over thing. 450 overs a match. I'm pretty sure Rob could code in how many overs are left fairly easily if he felt like it.
I know it's is 450 overs in a match but I am sure Rob has said that the overs left in a day isn't possible. Whether that is because it just isn't possible to do or he cba to do it I don't know.
Pretty simple code I'd think. 450 - number of overs gone in the game. We'd only need how many til the end of the match tbh. But yeah, he has said that.
Yeah but when you introduce rain it would take away time not a set amount of overs if you are being realistic. Therefore the formula would not be so simple.
Yeah, that's actually a fair point - especially with 30 minutes being added on before and after play.
On the sim when you create the stadiums you can create the weather components. Do the people who decide on the ground get to decide on the weather. Because if I have a shit squad id make it ****ing rain 4 out of the 5 days. >_>
Of course, that's still an exaggeration, but I'd have some sort of restrictions on it in place to stop that sort of thing happening if I was running the comp tbh.
All for wether adds to excitement if you are chasing a total on that last day and you a get session rained out. Not for having 3 or more days of rain though.
