That's right Ritchie, there's only one Kevin Love.

Hottest player on the team. Seems about right.

Not the role player the Sabres need him to be. Needs to be finishing a lot better at the rim. Contributes next to nothing in offense but a handy defender. Not a great FT shooter and too turnover prone.

Tazewell has been a revelation off the bench this season for the Sabres. His shooting percentages haven't been flash - which was expected going into the season. However he's been a fantastic back up handler to Rob Cribb. In fact, he's been a better handler than Cribb. Only turned the ball over once in 7 games and gets good assists numbers. Also does a good job from the charity stripe and uses the deep ball well. His mid-range jumper however is a train-wreck which stops him from being a good scorer. Not exactly known for his defence either which is what sets Cribb apart.

Izett is struggling to be the player he's capable of being. The potential is there but he can't seem to work himself into any kind of form. He'll be efficient on one day and then be woeful the next. Consistency is a big issue. Not reliable on offense and doesn't do too great a job on defence either.

Not been a terrible start to his career in his rookie season. Doesn't make as much an impact off the bench as he'd like. Ideally he'd want to be shooting better and doing a better job on the boards.

The feeling you get from Italian small forward Luigi Datome when discussing his rookie season? Try embarrassment.

Datome was sheepish when asked about his three-point shooting percentage this season with the Pistons.

Considered one of the top shooters in Europe, he has made seven of 38 three-pointers (18.4%).

Granted it’s a small sample size and he hasn’t played much. But he would be the first to say he hasn’t capitalized on his few opportunities.

“My percentage is terrible,” he said after the Palace finale on Sunday — a 116-107 loss to the Raptors.

The Sabres register their first win but it was a scrappy one at best against the Polar Bears. Shooting 43% against the Polar Bears is a pretty poor effort. Fortunately for the Sabres, Deen showed up with a clinical performance and almost recorded a trip-dub. It was a pretty ordinary performance from everyone else but the Sabres just about managed to get over the line.

    Sabres MVP:

    3 - Marquis Deen
    2 - Joshua Ritchie
    1 - Clayton Evans

Marquis Deen: Was the only thing standing between the Polar Bears and their second win of the season. Had a poor night from beyond the arc but other than that, his game was pretty solid. Got to the line, hit his free throws, fought hard on the boards and got a handy number of assists. Leading the team on assists, rebounds and points is a massive effort.

Joshua Ritchie: You'd want him doing better work on the boards but it was still a reasonably efficient performance from Ritchie. Got to the line and recorded a couple of steals.

Clayton Evans: Didn't shoot too well once again but you've come to expect around 20 points from him despite that. The only one who used the deep ball with any effect. Did a good job on D.

The Sabres record their first upset of the season against the Hurricanes. After an inspired first quarter performances, the Hurricanes weren't able to work themselves back into the game. A Deen trip-dub, a dominant showing on the boards from Ritchie and some good bench production helps the Sabres record their second win of the season.

    Sabres MVP:

    3 - Marquis Deen
    2 - Joshua Ritchie
    1 - Paul Tazewell

Marquis Deen - After almost getting a trip-dub against the Polar Bears, he gets it against the Hurricanes. Not only that but he played fantastic D which neutralised Fung which was key. Deen suddenly looking like the man the Sabres need him to be this season.

Joshua Ritchie - Going up against Ames is always a daunting task. Most people would have written him off to get dominated on the boards by Ames but Ritchie delivers a truly inspiring performance. He couldn't keep Ames quiet but he alone grabbed as many offensive boards as the whole of the Hurricanes team did. Falling just short of a dub-dub.

Paul Tazewell - He's the man the Sabres look to off the bench. Shot well from beyond the arc, got 5 assists and didn't turn the ball over. Becoming an excellent role player. Another good performance off the bench.

    Cumulative:

    Marquis Deen - 9
    Rob Cribb - 6
    Joshua Ritchie - 6
    Clayton Evans - 4

In a surprise, and ultimately poor, move the Sabres started Allan Izett and had Evans coming off the bench. Unfortunately for the Sabres, Izett in his attempt to justify the selection tried to become the Sabres' first scoring option and threw up too many poor shots in the first quarter itself. The Pandas were able to clean up the boards and were efficient on the offensive end largely thanks to Hunt. The result was a 39-19 first quarter massacre. The Sabres tried to fight back but ultimately their efforts were fruitless. Outmatched on the boards and choked eventually by the Pandas' tight defence.

    Sabres MVP:

    3 - Rob Cribb
    2 - Clayton Evans
    1 - Marquis Deen

Rob Cribb: A nice dub-dub for Cribb. Despite the loss, Cribb finding some form was a positive for the Sabres. Amidst the carnage, Cribb shot well and got 10 dimes.

Clayton Evans: A good performance off the bench from Evans but he really should have been starting. He tried to spark a few revivals but the Pandas just kept hitting back. Poor shooting night but he recorded his first dub-dub of the season and recorded 4 steals.

Marquis Deen: Not a convincing performance from the Sabres star. With Evans not playing much of the first quarter, Deen's plate was a lot fuller and he couldn't cope. It's never easy being responsible for guarding Schaw and he struggled as Schaw recorded a trip-dub. Despite that, he was one rebound short of recording a dub-dub.

    Cumulative:

    Marquis Deen - 10
    Rob Cribb - 9
    Joshua Ritchie - 6
    Clayton Evans - 6
    Paul Tazewell - 4
