Another upset. It was a lacklustre effort from the Sabres for most of the first half but they went into half time in okay shape. After being down by 12 at one point, some good D helped the Sabres reduce the deficit to just 5 points at the half. They were absolutely clinical in the second half, largely thanks to Deen who was magnificent on both ends of the court. There was a little scare as the game was coming to a close but the Sabres managed to register their 3rd win of the season. Sabres MVP: 3 - Marquis Deen 2 - Clayton Evans 1 - Rob Cribb Marquis Deen - What an effort once again from Deen. Sparked a revival and just kept going. A superb second half for the Sabres star. Undersized to guard Downes but did incredibly well to cut down his efficiency and ended the game as the better player. Those steals down the stretch made a real difference. Clayton Evans - Shooting 50%? Not only that - playing good D? Wat. A very efficient performance from Evans. Kept Cock to 4/12 shooting, recorded a couple of blocks and 4 assists. Rob Cribb - With Evans keeping Cock quiet, Cribb's tight defence on Yates helped to completely neutralize the Parrots backcourt which was pivotal in that victory. 7 assists and a good showing on the boards to boot. Cumulative: Marquis Deen - 13 Rob Cribb - 10 Clayton Evans - 8 Joshua Ritchie - 6 Paul Tazewell - 4 Bill Kirk - 1
Cribb definitely taking this to heart as he follows up with 16 assists and no turnovers the very next game...

A huge positive in Tom Delonge delivering his performance of the season by some margin. Looked a totally different player. Cribb also delivering his performance of the season which allowed Deen and Evans to take the back seat, relieving some pressure off them. Overall, a better shooting effort and did much better from the deep. Sabres MVP: 3 - Rob Cribb 2 - Tom Delonge 1 - Marquis Deen Rob Cribb: This is a massive effort from the Sabres guard. Falling just 3 short of tying Deen's freak assist record from last season. On any other team, he would have entered the franchise record books. Not only was his playmaking top notch but he shot better than he usually does too. Played excellent D on Boland while he ran the point too. Tom Delonge: On another day he would have been the best player on the court but Cribb delivered a freak performance today. What a positive this is for the Sabres though. Delonge doing something on the offensive boards! Averaged just over one OREB a game prior to this one. The Weaver vs Delonge battle was the biggest mismatch going into the game but the Sabres big gets the better of Weaver on the boards which was crucial in this victory. 4 blocks and 3 steals to cap off a superb defensive display. Marquis Deen: Wouldn't be a Sabres win if this man wasn't amongst the votes. Another impressive stat line. 27 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists. Gets to the line as usual and makes no mistake from the charity stripe. Enjoying the form of his life. Cumulative: Marquis Deen - 14 Rob Cribb - 13 Clayton Evans - 8 Joshua Ritchie - 6 Paul Tazewell - 4 Tom Delonge - 2 Bill Kirk - 1
Thought we had the Colts next but it seems it's the Pandas. This time we're at home and Evans will be starting obv. They're also missing Shaq. So we should be seeing a much improved performance. The only change from last week was 4 of Ritchie's minutes have gone to Izett.
