Should stream it online and see what you think. Some of the hosts are pretty annoying though, especially through summer.

The breakfast duo are two nerds, one of whom is gay, funny as fuck though.

    Was Aloe Black's 'I need a dollar' 2011 or 2010?

It's not a national indie station at all. The majority of what they play is pretty mainstream. The best thing they do is promote local music and of course unearth artists, which is the only indie thing about it.

They definitely are an Indie station, I'm talking in comparison to other radio stations. Music they play is definitely not mainstream for 70% of it. Pretty much every song they play won't currently be being played on any other station, and the 30% of 'mainsteam' songs they play are because they've played it so often people know them. They don't play Calvin Harris every 4th song like every other station.

Yeah triple J is the most indie station in Australia that I've heard. 10 minutes of listening the Zan Rowe crapping on about a band that's never been heard nor played before shows you that pretty quickly.

Triple R is pretty fucked Indie, but no one listens to that :p

I should cover what I said by saying that I live in the country so don't get the range of station that yall city folk do.

    I ended up voting for:
    Cinema - Benny Benassi
    1996 - Wombats
Video Games - Lana Del Ray
I love it - Hilltop Hoods ft Sia
    Lonely Boy - Black Keys
Junk of the heart - The Kooks
Under te cover of darkness - Strokes

And a couple of others that were toss ups and I forgot which ones I voted for.

FBI's more Indie than the J's, but no-one listens to that and it's only available in Sydney anyway.

  14. Frizzed WC Welker

Actually, FBI has a fairly large listener base or whatever you want to call it.

I think black keys will be in my short list, not that big on the others though.

Shouldn't have left this to the last minute, current list:

    Aston Shuffle- Won't get lost
Andy Bull-Everybody wants to rule the world
The Beards - Sex with a bearded man
    Bluejuice- Act your age
    Bombay Bicycle Club- Shuffle
    Coach Bombay- Waterfall
    Foster the People- Helena Beat
    Hermitude- Speak of the Devil
Husky- History's Door and Dark Sea
    Justice- Civilization
    Kasabian- Re-wired
    Jebediah- She's like a comet
    Matt Corby Brother
    New Navy- Zimbabwe
    Spank rock- Car Song
    The whip- Secret Weapon
Yuksek- Always on the run and On a train

Bolded are bands I didn't really rate before I heard the song nominated, so I think I'll have to vote for them.

FBI is the equivelant to Melbourne's PBS & RRR, Which is huge. What you meant to say is that nobody under 18 listens to that.

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah. FBI, PBS etc are indie stations. JJJ isn't.
