Well a scoring SG is gonna take more mid range jump shots then dunks. Speed and dunks are definitely slashing type skills, the speed will help you get to the rim and the dunks will help you score when you get there, also that extra 50 in free throws will be a really good benefit if you draw a foul, which is something a slashing SG should do a lot.

If I were to try be a scoring SG I would look at a bit more of a 3pt, vertical and consistency sort of thing, speed and strength will still be useful to help you get seperation to get the open shot. Also clutch will help you make those 4th qtr shots when you have them.

That's just my read on the situation though, other people probably know 2k games better then me though.

I don't really understand something. How is putting 100 of the 500 skill points onto the 1 stat going to be beneficial? The base for most stats won't be zero and you can't go over 100 skill points on the 1 stat. Eg, Base stat for dunking is 25: If I choose to put 100 skill spoints onto dunking when I register how will it work? It can't go to 125.

100% of a predetermined bonus amount for said stat.

That's kinda gay. I want to do a defensive Centre who can shoot free throws. Given that I have made a defesnive Centre on NBA2K11 I know the base stat for free throws is 25. That means the absolute highest I can get that stat is 50 if I use an entire fifth of my skill points.

if 25 is the bonus that mousey has predetermined...

Also, even if it is percentage based. It is still completely possible for someone to go do what I previously mentioned. If the base stat is over 50 and someone spends 100 skill points on it to increase it 100% then they are effictively wasting skill points as the highest a single stat can go is 99 iirc.

It seems extremely confusing. I would like to know what the 'pre determined bonus' is so I know i'm not wasting points on something that will effectively be useless to me.

Nah you have still missed the point... it's not 100% of the base stat, it is 100% of a predetermined number that only mousey knows, but yes theoretically you could "waste" some of your numbers.

Ah sweet, sounds good. Wasn't sure what a reasonable height was so looked to base mine on shaq. Pretty keen now!

Which is why some players will be shit and some won't be tbh.

I would've preferred a ridiculous option instead of the 4th option. Admin to change imo.

You pretty much have to know your player. The bonuses are different for each position too ftr, so for example, a PG has a better 3pt base stat than a C, so spending 100 on a C for 3pt will increase the stat more. However, you need to have a 3pt stat around 70 for it to be any use (which is why the increase is bigger for a PF or C, because a bigger increase is needed to make an impact and not waste and points).

What the points thingo does it allow you to shape your player, without having to do the whole rego form - which is, as you know, really long and complicated for those who don't know.

Pretty much if you wanna be an absolute blocking machine, using your full 100 on blocking will make you that. So will 90 and so will 80, but someone with 100 will be better than you.

No points will be wasted, unless you count increasing your block stat from 80 to 85 or something for example (while it will make an impact, it might not be that easy to tell on the stats). I can't see many stats maxxing out tbh, passing probably will, but things like 3pt shot won't.

This, kinda. Your special skills will make the difference between being a good and great player, I'm estimating. That said, having a good rego doesn't guarantee a good player. In game performances, and hopefully activity, will be contributing factors.

    Consistency FTW

How is activity going to change our skills??

Will there be a pre set percentage added on to our skills depending on activity?
If so how are the skills chosen?

It'll be more that lack of activity will see your performance suffer. Being on for hours everyday will probably be no more of an advantage than checking in once or twice a week. I've asked Cribb if it's possible to get BBall Sim a postcount for just myself to see, but I'm not fussed if I can't because it won't have too much of an effect.

Pretty much what I'm saying is spamming won't get anyone anywhere tbh.

Ok, well i see a few problems already.

    1. If you are doing how i do it and you are going to manually edit the increase/decrease then you would have to edit the rosters...which would then have to be reload into an Assoc. mode.
    2. So with that i suggest you either,
    - A) Do it over more than 3 games.
    - B) You could have a training and form type thing.
    3. Finally i see you've opened the rego already but i will suggest this. You look into the key areas they use (Inside, Mid, Outside, PrimDef, Reb, Block etc) and then use the same system (A+, A, A-, B+ etc) to differentiate the top players from the not to top (Active to not so).

    Just a few suggestions.
    This.

Also Admin to give mousey mod powers.

I'm pretty sure you can edit players in the middle of association, I did it with a player I created in an association mode.

Either way, I'll be updating every 3 or 5 games - depending on the length of the season. Atm, I'm looking at 12 rounds - so four updates, which doesn't bother me tbh.

Thought of training, but didn't really like it, as it can easily max out stats, and rewards activity a lot more than I want it to. I want in game performance to be more important than activity - like in CricSim.

I'll be using the grade system as a guide, but I don't want to use it in the regos as it's easy for me to fuck up, but also easy for people to get tricked by it. If they see A+ they'll think they have great 3pt skills, whereas they are just bonuses.

    I think that's what you're saying, isn't it?

Anyways, keep up with the suggestions. Everyone. It'll really help.
